Hey everyone… this post is a personal one. I was diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) in May 2007. This condition (at least in my case) is related to a hormone imbalance and is characterized by large amounts of estrogen, testosterone, and DHEA in the system and virtually no progesterone. Some of the symptoms are an inability to lose weight, insulin resistance, extra facial and body hair, and many other fun-filled issues. I have read that PCOS may be caused by a significant iodine deficiency and I have put this to the test. I have been taking large amounts of Kelp for the past 3 months to try and saturate my body with iodine. I am taking a hormone saliva test today and I am hopeful that the results of the hormone panel will show a return to more normal levels of hormones in my system.
I am hopeful and will post results when I have them back!
Have a great Labor Day!
