Colic in babies and the cure…

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

Just the other day I was in the doctor’s office and was reading an interesting article in a magazine I had picked up.  As I waited my turn, I had enough time to peruse an article about colicky babies.  I have always felt sorry for mom’s who have colicky babies. It seems as if the baby is constantly crying and fussing; You know that they are in pain and that there is not an awful lot you can do. It is a terrible feeling.  I had a colicky baby and let me tell you, it was a nightmare.

Turns out there has been a study done with 83 infants with “colic”.  Half of the babies were given the standard treatment of a product that was supposed to reduce the bubbles and gas in the baby’s system - about 20% were somewhat improved with this.  The fortunate half of the babies were given a probiotic supplement called L. Reuteri.  An impressive 95% of the babies given the L. Reuteri got completely better!

L. Reuteri is a beneficial bacteria that these babies must have been missing.  It helps aid digestion and can reduce gas and bloating.  It is available in a chewable form (so you can crush it and mix with breat milk or formula).  Trying this can help you relieve the pain your baby is experiencing fast.

You can purchase this remarkable bacteria at: http://www.mynsp.com/renewedhealth/products/guide.aspx?stockNum=1559 for $34.95 or if you buy 2, you can get the member cost at $22.95/each.

Pretty cool! Looks like there is an understanding that colic may actually be caused by a lack of beneficial bacteria in the system.  Replacing this solves the problem!

If part of your candida attack plan includes following the anti-candida diet; I bet you are more than a little concerned about the nutrition that you are NOT getting.  Fruits are a definite no-no on most anti-candida plans.  Even on products like ThreeLac, it is a good idea to be conservative in the types and amounts of fruit that you are eating.  However, and this has always been my problem with the anti-candida diet,  your body needs the nutrition in the foods that you eat in order to heal most effectively.  If you don’t eat good foods, your body can not heal as quickly and fruits are very important for providing plentiful nutrition and antioxidants.

Not consuming enough antioxidants (found in large quantities in fruit) will open your body up to the ravages of free radicals and the aging process that comes with not having enough antioxidant in the system.  You need these even more so when on an anti-candida regimen.

So, what is a person to do…?

Well, there may be a solution out there for you!  There is a brand new antioxidant drink on the market today.

1. It is a blended puree of 23 different fruits and herbs.
2. It tastes delicious.
3. Each ounce of this synergistic antioxidant drink contains more than 8,600 ORAC units, the highest out there.  (The RDA is 3000-5000 ORAC per day.)
4. The drink is not caffeinated.
5. It has no added sugar.
6. It is NOT sweetened artificially.
7. One ounce equates to 5-9 servings of fruit!
8. The carb count on this little beauty is only 5 carbs per ounce (from natural fruit sugars).
9. You only need to drink 1 ounce per day.

There is no chance of blowing your anti-candida diet with this product, but you can easily get the fruits that you need!

Won’t it be grand to not worry about the nutrition you are missing by not being able to eat the fruits you need?  You can get a power-packed shot of nutrition and antioxidants for under $2.00 per day.  It is a total win-win situation; you get the nutrition and antioxidants that you need without feeding the yeast.

candida and the eyes

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

Many of us with Candida also have a lot of difficulty with our eyes; some people complain of visual blurring, floaters in the eyes, sensitivity to light or even eye pain.   This is not a fun issue to deal withWhat can be the connection between these issues with the eyes and candida?

Believe it or not, the answer relates to toxicity.  The eyes are very sensitive to the levels of toxins in the system.  Floaters, in particular, are tied to toxins in the blood stream.  Candida is an amazing creator of toxicity and the higher the toxins the more the eyes will be affected.

One of the major issues I was struggling with before my candida cleanse was a lot of difficulty with my eyes.  I had talked to my optometrist about this, but he said that I was seeing just as well as before my eye pain and blurring had started.  It was a real mystery to him that I would have these complaints; to be honest, I think he thought that the issue was entirely in my head.  When I started the candida cleanse, the VERY FIRST SYMPTOM to get better for me was the eye pain and blurriness!  You see, when I started to kill the candida, the level of toxins in my system went down very rapidly.  The reduction of the toxins relieved the toxicity that was causing the issues with my eyes and I saw almost immediate relief.

If you are struggling with unexplainable eye problems, but your optomestrist can find no physicals problems with your eyes, it is possible that candida is putting toxins into your system that are affecting your eyes.  You can test this possibility by taking a soluble fiber (metamucil, psyllium or apple pectin) for a few days.  If you notice a lessening of your eye pain in a 3-5 day period, you are being affected by toxins and candida may be the source of the issue.

You can test if you have candida by performing a simple saliva test - http://www.stopyeast.com/saliva.html.
